Teaching the Gap With Two Written Rows

Put a packed line and a gapped line on consecutive rows. Ask which one "counts." Both can count. The packed row is not more legal. Adjacency is not a hidden payline.

If the student points at empty gold glass and says miss, check for 00 first, then for a true gap with other digits still visible. Two checks, two different writings.
